Charity Work Nationally

Our National Charitable work is managed by the Masonic Charitable Foundation https://mcf.org.uk/

This is one of the largest charities in the UK and typically over £30m per annum is raised by contributions from Masons, their families and friends through various events, raffles etc. during the year. The money isn’t raised from public collection, we don’t have charity shops or rattle collection boxes.

Part of the money is used to support Masons or their families in times of distress. This is much as a benevolent society would. However a large proportion of the money goes to support other UK and International Charities including Air Ambulances, Hospices, Cancer Research, Children’s Charity etc.

For example during 2017, to celebrate the tercentenary of the United Grand Lodge of England we donated £3m to 300 Charities, selected by public vote. These charities received grants of between £4,000 and £25,000 and almost 180,000 members of the public voted for their favourite charity.
